LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Michael Webber on Thursday celebrated defense contractor BAE Systems’ announcement that it has received a $797 million contract to continue manufacturing armored vehicles for the U.S. Army at its manufacturing plant in Sterling Heights.
“This announcement is a big win for the people of Sterling Heights and surrounding areas in Macomb and Oakland counties,” said Webber, R-Rochester Hills. “This contract continues Michigan’s tradition of protecting freedom as the Arsenal of Democracy to the Arsenal of Innovation, providing vital equipment to our servicemembers to keep them safe on the frontlines. These important investments into our local workforce not only provide good-paying job opportunities but also help to grow and maintain a vibrant future for the families who call our communities home.”
