LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Michael Webber on Friday announced the Oakland County Land Bank Authority was awarded a $552,500 state grant to help eliminate blight and convert underutilized land into productive space.
“These grants are an invaluable investment into our future,” said Webber, R-Rochester Hills. “Blight elimination does more than just remove public eyesores — often dangerous abandoned properties. It also helps to boost economic development and inspire hope that benefits everyone who lives and works in these transforming communities.”
The funding, provided through the State Land Bank Authority (SLBA), was part of a second round of blight elimination grants doled out by the agency as part of a $75 million 2023 fiscal year budget allocation.
The Oakland County Land Bank Authority previously received $200,000 through a first round of grants awarded in March. Additional funds are set to be allocated by the SLBA in October 2023 and August 2024. Learn more at Michigan.gov/landbank.
