LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Michael Webber on Friday highlighted funding in the fiscal year 2025 budget that will support local needs and investments for communities throughout the 9th Senate District.
“In my discussions with local officials, there were a number of opportunities for investment that were brought up, many of which had the potential to greatly benefit their communities for years to come,” said Webber, R-Rochester Hills. “Throughout the budget process, and as the final product came together, I worked with the Troy City Council and city manager’s office to secure funding for this priority, and I am happy that a great deal of the requested funds were included in the budget that was signed into law.”
Among the items included in the budget that was recently signed into law by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is $1.9 million for a new ladder truck for the city of Troy fire department. Webber worked with the city of Troy to identify the need and said the new truck will enhance the fire department’s ability to serve residents by adding additional capabilities and allow the department to respond to emergencies in a more prepared and timely manner.
“This was a top priority for the city, and I am glad we were able to work together to recognize this need and put pen to paper and lock in this funding,” Webber said.
